Armstrong Murder Case: 23 Suspects Transferred to Puzhal Central Jail for Security Precautions

Chennai, Dec 15 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu Prison Department has relocated 23 individuals, who are accused of the murder of BSP state leader K. Armstrong, to Puzhal Central Prison on Sunday for security precautions. They were earlier held in the Poonamallee Sub-Jail.
K. Armstrong, a lawyer at the Madras High Court, was horrifically murdered on July 5 in front of his under-construction residence in Perambur, near Chennai.
An eight-member gang, spearheaded by Ponnai Balu, brother of the deceased gangster Arcot Suresh, admitted to the crime and surrendered to the authorities that very evening.
Balu revealed that the murder was executed in retaliation for the death of Arcot Suresh, which he claimed was orchestrated by Armstrong.
However, a specialized investigation team, established by Chennai City Police Commissioner M. Arun, found that three gangs had collaborated to plan the murder.
Armstrong met his end at the hands of Ponnai Balu and his accomplices.
Further inquiries uncovered that the notorious gangster Nagendran, who has been incarcerated for 26 years, along with another gangster, Sambhav Senthil, conspired and financed the assassination.
Authorities stated that Nagendran bore a grudge against Armstrong, blaming him for obstructing his son Ashwathaman's political ambitions, who is also a lawyer and a state office-bearer of the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress.
Ashwathaman, implicated in the case, has since lost his primary membership in the Congress party.
On the other hand, Sambhav Senthil reportedly had ongoing disputes with Armstrong regarding real estate transactions.
A total of 27 individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case; out of these, 23, including Ponnai Balu and Ashwathaman, have now been moved to Puzhal Central Prison.
It is noteworthy that Sambhav Senthil and two of his close associates, Krishna Kumar and Appu, are still on the run.
Senthil, classified as an A+ history-sheeter at the Washermenpet police station, a title indicating involvement in multiple murder cases, has been evading capture since the incident.
Sources from the Chennai Police have indicated that they possess specific leads regarding Senthil's location and are optimistic about capturing him soon.
The police have filed a detailed 5,000-page chargesheet with the magistrate court.
