Itanagar, Dec 23 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), stated on Tuesday that in light of the recent detainment of suspected agents, and considering the strategic significance of the state, it is imperative to be aware that external forces and elements from neighboring regions might seek to incite unrest in this border state.

The Governor asserted that continuous vigilance and readiness are crucial for maintaining peace and stability.

During a high-level security review meeting held at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar, Governor Parnaik highlighted that ensuring the safety and security of the populace should always be the top priority of the state administration, and that every effort must be made to eliminate fear and foster confidence among residents.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Police have detained five individuals, all from Jammu and Kashmir, for their suspected involvement in espionage activities linked to handlers from Pakistan.

Law enforcement officials reported that two suspects were apprehended in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on December 18, and were subsequently transferred to Arunachal Pradesh, while three others were taken into custody from the Itanagar Capital Region on November 21.

In the review meeting, the Governor emphasized that peace and security are fundamental for development, stating that progress is only possible when individuals feel secure in their homes and communities.

Parnaik advocated for a people-focused security approach, urging the state administration and security forces to proactively safeguard lives, livelihoods, and public trust.

He insisted that district administrations must remain alert and responsive, especially in sensitive and border regions.

Highlighting the importance of technology, Governor Parnaik encouraged security forces and the civil administration to utilize modern tools and systems to enhance the state's security framework.

He remarked that when Arunachal Pradesh is safe, the nation is secure.

Commending the excellent collaboration among the uniformed forces stationed in the state, the Governor noted that cooperation and mutual trust are essential for addressing security challenges effectively.

He also praised the armed forces for their ongoing efforts to cultivate goodwill and harmonious relationships with the local populace, stressing that earning public trust is as crucial as operational readiness.

During the discussions, State Home Minister Mama Natung outlined several significant initiatives by the state government, including the surrender policy aimed at reintegrating misguided youth, the implementation of the e-Inner Line Permit (e-ILP) system, and additional measures to bolster internal security and governance.

Natung reaffirmed the state government's dedication to upholding peace, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring the safety and welfare of all citizens.

The state police, Border Roads Organisation, along with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police, provided an extensive update on actions taken in line with the discussions from the Namsai Security Meeting.

Through detailed presentations, they outlined the initiatives implemented, progress made, and challenges faced in further strengthening the state's security framework.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Manish Gupta, senior officials from the state government, representatives from the state police, Border Roads Organisation, Assam Rifles, and Central Reserve Police Force, as well as Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts, attended the meeting.

This meeting on Tuesday followed a prior security review meeting held on July 26 in the Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh.
