Will Varanasi Residents Enjoy 24 New 'Smart Parks' with Yoga, Walking & Gym Facilities?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Varanasi, Dec 23 (NationPress) Residents of Varanasi, located in Uttar Pradesh, are about to receive a remarkable enhancement from the Yogi Adityanath-led state government as they prepare for the New Year. A total of 24 smart parks featuring facilities for yoga, walking, and gym activities are being constructed throughout the city.
This initiative aims to provide community members with access to fitness and recreational resources conveniently located near their residences, thus negating the necessity for long travels to engage in physical activities.
Out of the 24 parks, 20 have already been finalized, while progress is underway on the remaining four, which are anticipated to be inaugurated shortly.
With the increasing prevalence of health issues, stress, and obesity, more individuals are opting for morning walks and yoga to achieve balance in their daily lives and maintain physical fitness.
Health-focused individuals favor clean, green environments for their exercise routines.
Unfortunately, rapid urban development has led to a significant reduction of parks in urban areas.
To combat this challenge, the Varanasi Development Authority had previously initiated renovation works in several parks.
Following the historic third consecutive victory of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a decision was made to revitalize 24 parks in Varanasi.
After completing various Smart City initiatives, the responsibility for rejuvenating these underutilized parks was assigned to Varanasi Smart City during Modi's third term as Prime Minister.
Amrendra Tiwari, the Chief General Manager of Varanasi Smart City, informed IANS that the parks are being transformed into fully modern and functional spaces.
"New play equipment for children has been installed, robust and aesthetically pleasing walking paths have been developed, and captivating wall murals are being created to elevate the parks' charm," he stated.
According to Tiwari, residents will have the opportunity not only to stroll in these parks but also to practice yoga and engage in light exercises.
Most of the pathways are nearing completion, and the painting work is in its final stages.
Once all parks are fully operational in the New Year, the people of Varanasi will be able to embrace a healthier lifestyle right at their doorstep.
