Patna, July 2 (NationPress) The Bihar BJP Working Committee meeting, hosted at Gyan Bhavan in Patna on Wednesday, took an unexpected turn when former Union Minister and prominent BJP figure Ashwini Kumar Choubey exited the meeting in frustration after discovering there was no seat reserved for him on the stage.
In attendance was Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who was present to inaugurate the meeting, alongside other key BJP leaders, including Bihar BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
Upon his arrival at Gyan Bhavan, Choubey was seen walking beside Rajnath Singh towards the stage, with other leaders following closely behind.
However, once they reached the stage, Choubey scanned the area and noticed that many seats were already taken by senior leaders, realizing that there was no designated spot for him.
In a matter of moments, he descended from the stage and exited the venue.
When reporters inquired about his premature departure and whether it stemmed from the seating issue, Choubey insisted that his only purpose was to meet the Defence Minister.
“There’s no issue. I came here to meet Rajnath Singh and I have another event to attend at Gandhi Maidan. The entire hall belongs to us,” Choubey stated.
Ashwini Choubey, who has served as an MP for Buxar during the 2014 and 2019 elections and previously held the Union Minister position, did not secure a ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and the BJP failed to win Buxar.
Recognized for his seniority within the party and unwavering support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Choubey has been a steadfast ally, even during challenging times between Nitish Kumar and Modi in Bihar.
This incident has ignited conversations among Bihar’s political analysts, who highlight the awkwardness of the scenario during a pivotal election strategy meeting, reflecting the underlying tensions within the party as it gears up for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
