Guwahati, April 13 (NationPress) Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, expressed his gratitude on Sunday after returning a borrowed mobile charger to a fellow traveler during his recent flight from Delhi to Dubai on an Emirates airline.
Taking to X, CM Sarma shared, "Today, I returned the mobile charger I had borrowed from Deepak Kapoor, my co-passenger on the flight from Delhi to Dubai, at his residence in Noida, and presented his family with an Assamese Gamocha as a token of my appreciation. It brought me immense satisfaction."
"Deepak selflessly lent me the charger without knowing anything about me. His altruistic act resonated deeply with me, and I felt it was important to recognize such rare kindness. I wanted to ensure that his spirit of helping a stranger continues—a small tribute to a truly generous individual," he added.
Last week, while boarding the flight to Dubai from Delhi, CM Sarma realized he did not have a phone charger.
A young man seated next to him noticed this and promptly offered his international plug and charging cable.
It was a simple yet impactful act of kindness, showcasing how strangers can connect in brief but significant moments.
With a grateful smile, CM Sarma accepted the offer and charged his device.
The flight proceeded smoothly, and as fatigue set in, CM Sarma fell asleep.
Upon waking hours later, he discovered the plane had landed in Dubai, and his fellow passenger had already left.
In the hustle of disembarking, amidst the shuffle of passengers and luggage, one crucial detail slipped his mind: he still had the charger and cable.
The man had departed without retrieving them, unaware that his small act of kindness would lead to an unexpected turn of events.
In Amsterdam, CM Sarma was filled with remorse.
"This morning, I traveled on an Emirates flight from Delhi to Dubai, where a kind young man lent me his international plug and charging cable. Unfortunately, he got off in Dubai while I was asleep, and I couldn't return them. Now in Amsterdam, I feel deeply sorry for not returning his belongings. If this message reaches him, please DM me so I can arrange the return of his charger and cable promptly. Thank you for your kindness, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused @emirates," the Chief Minister posted on X.
CM Sarma also sought assistance from the Assam Police, who promptly began efforts to identify the man.
