Dibrugarh, Jan 18 (NationPress) A significant milestone in the history of Indian Railways was reached on Sunday as the Amrit Bharat Express commenced its inaugural journey from Dibrugarh (Assam) to Gomti Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) following a formal launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This launch is a pivotal advancement for rail connectivity not only in Assam but also for the broader Northeast region.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated two Amrit Bharat Express train services, marking a substantial enhancement to Assam's railway infrastructure.

The introduction of these services is anticipated to fortify rail connections between Assam and numerous essential destinations across the nation, thereby improving accessibility for travelers.

In a statement to the media, Assam Power Minister Prasanta Phukan expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, stating, "The Amrit Bharat Express, linking Dibrugarh to Lucknow, is fantastic news for the residents of Dibrugarh and Assam. On behalf of the people of Assam and Dibrugarh, we extend our warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Emphasizing the advantages of the new services, Phukan remarked, "The benefits that Assam will gain from the Amrit Bharat Express are significant. Traveling has become more convenient. One can now travel from Dibrugarh to Guwahati in merely 9 hours. I extend my congratulations to everyone involved in this achievement."

Officials indicated that the newly launched train services will operate on the Dibrugarh–Gomti Nagar and Kamakhya–Rohtak routes.

These trains are set to greatly enhance long-distance travel options for passengers from Assam and the Northeast, offering improved comfort and connectivity.

The flag-off ceremony was held during the Prime Minister’s visit to Assam.

From Mouchanda Pathar at Niz Chilabandha in Kaliabor, Prime Minister Modi virtually inaugurated the two Amrit Bharat Express trains, officially commencing their operations.

According to officials, the launch of the Amrit Bharat Express aims to enhance passenger convenience, reduce travel time, and make long-distance rail travel more economical.

Furthermore, the new services are expected to play a crucial role in further integrating Assam’s railway network with the rest of India, thus promoting mobility and regional development.
