Assam's Chief Minister to Unveil 56 Electric Buses on January 1

Guwahati, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, is set to unveil a total of 56 electric buses in the state on New Year’s Day (January 1), according to officials on Tuesday.

As per a senior official, the addition of these new buses will increase the overall count of electric buses in the state to 256.

“The state government is committed to fostering sustainable transportation and a cleaner environment. These electric buses are designed to minimize carbon emissions while enhancing eco-friendly urban mobility. Plans for green infrastructure and sustainable urban development are underway,” the official further stated.

In the meantime, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his New Year greetings to the residents of Assam.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Sarma expressed that the New Year brings forth new hopes and ambitions. He remarked that New Year 2025 will motivate individuals from all backgrounds—castes, creeds, languages, and religions—to advance and contribute to the state’s progress.

The Chief Minister also expressed his hope that the New Year will enhance the bonds of friendship among the populace, enabling them to play a pivotal role in propelling Assam towards a new growth trajectory in socio-economic, cultural, and academic development.

Additionally, CM Sarma announced that the government plans to launch a mutual transfer portal for its grade 3 and 4 employees.

The portal, named Swagata Satirtha, aims to revolutionize the transfer process of government employees in the state, replacing the outdated manual system.

This mutual transfer portal will become operational from January 1, 2025.

On X, Sarma stated, “Tomorrow, January 1, 2025, will herald a new era in Employee Welfare. Addressing the long-standing requests of our State Government employees, we will inaugurate Swagata Satirtha, the mutual transfer portal for Grade III & Grade IV employees.”
