Guwahati, Dec 10 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that the state government has escalated its efforts to reclaim forest lands and public property allegedly encroached upon over the years, emphasizing that concrete measures have been implemented to combat infiltrators and safeguard Assam’s territorial and demographic integrity.
During the public event of Swahid Divas, Sarma stated that the government has “begun the process of recovering lands from those who have exploited Assam’s forest resources and seized land,” adding that prompt actions have been taken in Bayadrava against individuals who have “illegally entered Assam.”
“Currently, if anyone tries to infiltrate Assam, this government and the Assamese community have initiated the process of sending them back within two hours of their arrival,” he remarked, underlining that public support has reinforced administrative measures.
Sarma highlighted that Assamese society is becoming economically self-sufficient, fulfilling the collective dream for a “new Assam.”
The Chief Minister reiterated that this vision is anchored in the sacrifices of over 860 martyrs, whose contributions to preserving the state’s identity and interests are fundamental.
“An Assam founded on their sacrifices will be beautiful in every aspect—an Assam brimming with self-respect,” he expressed.
He noted that the state is “progressing as our martyrs envisioned,” referencing the cessation of rhino poaching incidents, recovery of encroached forests, and what he labeled as decisive actions against infiltration.
Reiterating concerns regarding the alleged sale of land to outsiders, Sarma urged the Assamese populace not to sell land to unknown individuals due to financial difficulties, cautioning that such actions might result in “loss of land to infiltrators.”
He also encouraged local business owners to refrain from hiring individuals whose identity and history are not verified.
The Chief Minister stated that Assam stands at a significant crossroads today, with enhanced security, increased social confidence, and renewed resolve.
“We are advancing towards a new Assam built on the sacrifices of over 850 martyrs,” he said, calling for collective vigilance and unity in preserving the state’s cultural and territorial heritage.
