Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, Jan 13 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday that the state is progressively moving from a manual record-keeping framework to a digital system in educational institutions. He emphasized that this transition will greatly improve efficiency and facilitate better academic monitoring throughout Assam.
In response to the distribution of tablet PCs to educators and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) in Dhemaji district, the Chief Minister remarked that the deployment of these digital devices would allow educators to maintain precise and up-to-date records.
“Assam is shifting to a digital record-keeping approach in its institutions. These devices will assist teachers in maintaining digital records, enhancing efficiency, and reinforcing academic oversight,” Sarma stated.
This announcement followed a ceremony attended by Assam's Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and Lok Sabha MP Pradan Baruah, where tablet PCs were distributed as part of the Samagra Shiksha initiative in Dhemaji.
The event took place at the Dhemaji Girls’ Senior Secondary School, where a total of 183 tablet PCs were given to teachers and CRCCs.
Officials noted that these devices are anticipated to play a vital role in enhancing inclusive record management, enabling real-time data synchronization, and improving overall governance within the education sector.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu mentioned that these digital tools would aid in effective academic supervision, helping educators and administrators track learning outcomes, attendance, and other critical parameters more efficiently.
He further stated that this initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of incorporating technology into school education to foster transparency and improve service delivery.
Education department officials indicated that the implementation of tablet PCs would minimize paperwork and ensure quicker reporting, particularly in remote and rural areas like Dhemaji, where access to digital infrastructure has historically been limited.
This initiative is part of Assam's ongoing commitment to modernize its education system through technology-driven reforms. By equipping teachers with digital tools, the state government aims to enhance data accuracy, improve monitoring mechanisms, and ultimately elevate the standard of education.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the digital empowerment of educators is crucial for establishing a future-ready education system and ensuring improved outcomes for students throughout Assam.
