Guwahati, March 12 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced on Wednesday that the state government is committed to fostering inclusivity by creating a shelter home in Guwahati for the transgender community. CM Sarma expressed this initiative through his X handle, stating, "A shelter for the transgender community. Our Govt is ringing in a new era of inclusivity. We are setting up a dedicated shelter home in Guwahati for the transgender community so that they have a safe space to stay in."

Previously, the Chief Minister highlighted that Assam is experiencing growth rates of 14-15 percent, surpassing the national average.

He noted that Assam ranks among the five fastest growing states in India. He explained, "We are consistently achieving growth rates of 14-15 percent, significantly higher than the national growth rate of 9-10 percent. The success of Advantage Assam 2.0 reflects our remarkable growth trajectory."

Furthermore, he mentioned that Assam has seen a substantial increase in mutual funds over the past five years.

According to CM Sarma, there has been a remarkable 159 percent increase in mutual funds in Assam, with investments soaring from Rs 11,298 crore to Rs 29,268 crore.

He asserted, "A remarkable 159 percent growth of Mutual Funds in Assam over the last five years, from Rs 11,298 crore to Rs 29,268 crore, illustrates the India Growth Story; it reflects the trust that the people of Assam have in our markets and signifies the rising income levels among our citizens."

Moreover, he highlighted that Assam was the foremost contributor to mutual funds in the northeastern region from 2020 to 2024.
