Chandigarh, Jan 17 (NationPress) The Punjab BJP's working President Ashwani Sharma made a pointed criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government on Saturday. He stated that the forensic report on the video featuring MLA Atishi, who allegedly made disrespectful remarks about Guru Sahib during a session of the Delhi Assembly, has definitively confirmed that the footage is authentic and has not been altered.
Sharma emphasized that the Punjab government lacks the original video and therefore has no ethical or factual grounds to assert that the video is fabricated.
He raised concerns about how the government can “mislead” citizens on such a critical religious issue without credible proof.
In a serious indictment of the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, BJP legislator Sharma expressed that by “safeguarding” Atishi, who allegedly insulted Guru Sahib, the Chief Minister and his Cabinet ministers are complicit in this “act of disrespect” towards the Gurus.
In his statement, he noted that the original video had been reviewed by the Delhi Assembly, which unanimously called for a forensic examination at the insistence of the Opposition, and the results unequivocally demonstrated that the video had not been manipulated.
Despite the revelations, Sharma accused Chief Minister Mann and his Cabinet members of continuing to support Atishi, thus severely offending the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
“By defending her, AAP leaders are engaging in the sin of disrespecting Guru Sahib,” he asserted.
Sharma further stated that AAP is exhibiting a “double standard” on religious matters, which the citizens of Punjab will unequivocally reject.
He called for Atishi to publicly apologize for her comments and for the Punjab government to clarify its position on this issue without ambiguity.
