New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ayodhya Ram Temple, has sadly passed away on Wednesday at the age of 85.

He was receiving treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) hospital in Lucknow after experiencing a brain stroke. His disciple, Pradeep Das, confirmed the news of his death.

As per the hospital's official statement, he was admitted to the neurology ward's HDU on February 3 in a critical state. He had also been managing diabetes and high blood pressure.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, paid his respects to the chief priest.

"The passing of Acharya Shri Satyendra Kumar Das Ji Maharaj, a devoted follower of Lord Ram and the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya Dham, is profoundly sad and represents an irreparable loss to the spiritual community. Born into a life dedicated to devotion, Acharya Das embarked on his spiritual journey at the young age of 20. He was affiliated with the Nirvani Akhara, one of the significant religious sects in Ayodhya. He was known for his approachability and often provided insights to journalists regarding the Ram Temple movement and related developments in Ayodhya.
