New Delhi, July 14 (NationPress) In a significant move to support the disabled and senior citizens, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment B.L. Verma is set to inaugurate the 75th Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK) on Tuesday at the Government Medical College in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.
The Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra initiative aims to deliver comprehensive services in one location, encompassing assessment, evaluation, counselling, distribution, and post-distribution support for eligible Divyangjan and senior beneficiaries.
This newly launched PMDK in Badaun will facilitate the provision of assistive aids and devices under the ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances) Scheme for Divyangjan and the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) for elderly citizens, according to an official announcement.
Eligible beneficiaries will receive devices such as tricycles, wheelchairs, hearing aids, walkers, artificial limbs, and mobility support tools at no cost.
This new center will increase the total number of operational PMDKs across India to 75, having already assisted over 140,000 individuals with assistive devices worth more than ₹1.79 crore.
Verma's inauguration will take place alongside senior officials from the Ministry, representatives from ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), District Administration officials, and other esteemed guests.
The establishment of this center is anticipated to significantly alleviate the travel and logistical burdens faced by local beneficiaries, providing them with accessible, dignified, and timely assistance at the community level.
This initiative underscores the government’s strong dedication to an ‘Accessible India, Empowered India’ vision and its commitment to inclusive growth through efficient service delivery.
Earlier in April, MoS Verma co-chaired a two-day National Review Conference for domain experts and stakeholders to evaluate vital social justice and welfare programs.
At the Chintan Shivir in Dehradun, the primary focus was on the Ministry’s vision and mission, highlighting human dignity, rights-based support, and equal opportunity.
This gathering promoted collaboration and enhanced coordination between the Centre and States, aiming for effective and inclusive delivery of government services at the grassroots level.
