Kolkata, April 11 (NationPress) The West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu is scheduled to meet with individuals who have lost their school jobs, whose relay hunger strike has now entered its second day on Friday.
The meeting is set to take place at Bikas Bhavan at 3 p.m.
During the discussion, Minister Basu is anticipated to outline the measures proposed by the state government to resolve the ongoing crisis.
It is important to note that the Supreme Court recently ordered the cancellation of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching positions in state-operated schools across West Bengal. This ruling was issued in relation to the West Bengal School jobs case.
The relay hunger strike commenced on Thursday afternoon in front of the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) office located in Salt Lake, Kolkata, starting with one teacher. Subsequently, two additional teachers who also faced job losses joined the protest.
Current information indicates that the delegation representing the teaching and non-teaching staff will consist of eight members, with two senior officials from the state Education Department and WBSSC chairman Siddhartha Majumdar accompanying Minister Basu.

Additionally, the delegation members will urge Minister Basu to ensure disciplinary actions against members of the Kolkata Police who engaged in an "unprovoked assault" on the protesting job losers outside the office of the District Inspector of schools in Kasba, Kolkata on Wednesday.
