Kolkata, July 21 (NationPress) West Bengal's Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari stated on Monday that addressing the issue of illegal infiltration in the state will be pivotal in countering Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remarks regarding the mistreatment of Bengali-speaking individuals in BJP-governed regions.
During the Trinamool Congress's annual Martyrs' Day event in central Kolkata, Chief Minister Banerjee delivered her speech, while the Leader of the Opposition conducted a rally in Siliguri, located in the Darjeeling district of North Bengal, focusing on women's safety issues in the state. Adhikari asserted that the Chief Minister is leveraging the “save Bengali” initiative to safeguard the interests of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators.
He further emphasized that the BJP intends to bring attention to the same infiltration problem to counter the Chief Minister’s new narrative of “Bengalis in Danger”.
“The Trinamool Congress is actively engaging in anti-national activities by attempting to protect these Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators. I urge the Election Commission of India to take action against the party for this. The registration of Trinamool Congress as a political entity should be revoked immediately. There should not be a single Rohingya or Bangladeshi infiltrator on the voters’ list, and we cannot endorse their inclusion,” he claimed. “Today, the Chief Minister made it evident that her party could not endure without the backing of these infiltrators,” he added.
Adhikari also expressed his commitment to make Mamata Banerjee a former Chief Minister of West Bengal following the 2026 assembly elections, arguing that her excessive appeasement of illegal infiltrators will ultimately lead to the downfall of the Trinamool Congress in the state.
Meanwhile, Amit Malviya, Chief of BJP’s Information Technology Cell and the party’s central observer for West Bengal, claimed that the Trinamool Congress rally on Monday was primarily attended by Rohingya infiltrators and known offenders.
“Mamata Banerjee, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Thieves’, addressed an assembly that included not citizens but illegal Rohingya infiltrators and recognized criminals. This pattern is not new; for years, Mamata has provided shelter to criminals and facilitated illegal migration, transforming Bengal into a sanctuary for lawlessness. While her rallies overflow with outsiders, genuine Bengalis, the true children of this land, are neglected, humiliated, and left to suffer,” Malviya articulated on X.
