The primary suspect in this case is Shweta Khan.
Her co-accused include her son, Aryan Khan, and her daughter. Due to her age, the case concerning the third accused has been forwarded for processing under the Juvenile Justice Act and is now with the Juvenile Justice Board.
The trio faces serious allegations, including holding a woman from the North 24 Parganas district captive for a period of six months and subjecting her to severe physical abuse with an iron rod after she declined to take part in pornographic video shoots allegedly organized by them.
According to a source within the state police, the mobile phone was recovered during a raid at the residence in Domjur early on Monday morning. Alongside the mobile device, a laptop and a CCTV camera installed in the house were also confiscated by the raiding officials.
Police insiders revealed that the digital video recorder of the CCTV camera has been dispatched to forensic experts for further investigation.
The three suspects were apprehended on June 11 at various locations across the city by investigative officials. The police escalated their actions following the National Commission for Women (NCW) taking suo motu cognizance of the situation and communicating with West Bengal DGP Rajeev Kumar, demanding swift arrests under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The NCW has also mandated that the victim is provided with free medical treatment and psychological support. Additionally, they have requested a comprehensive action report from the DGP within three days.
Both Shweta and Aryan have denied the allegations against them. Shweta claims she has been falsely implicated and insists her perspective should be acknowledged.
She remains in police custody as inquiries continue.
Sukanta Majumdar, the West Bengal BJP President and Union Minister, has alleged that Shweta Khan has connections with several senior leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
