Patna, June 17 (NationPress) The Bihar Police is ramping up its efforts against criminals possessing illegally obtained assets.
During a press conference in Patna on Monday, Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar announced that authorities have identified 1,172 criminals statewide who are suspected of amassing wealth through unlawful activities.
A formal request has been submitted to the court to initiate legal action, and the process of asset seizure will commence upon receiving judicial consent.
"To date, confiscation proposals have been made against 188 individuals, with the court approving asset seizures in four cases," confirmed DGP Kumar.
"Reports from every district are in, and we await court approval to launch a widespread operation," he added.
The DGP also emphasized the active anti-corruption campaign within the police force.
"The Vigilance Bureau has already apprehended over two dozen corrupt officers, and this initiative will persist," he pledged.
DGP Kumar pointed out that the number of FIRs filed this year has risen compared to last year, indicating a more proactive approach to policing.
Moreover, measures are being taken to expedite the trial process for quicker justice, he stated.
"Under the 'Arms One' initiative, if a criminal released on bail reoffends, their bail is swiftly revoked," he noted.
The state police are also enhancing their fight against cybercrime, with plans to establish cyber police stations across all districts.
In response to worries about crime rates in Bihar, the DGP presented current statistics against historical data.
"In 2004, there were approximately 4,000 murder cases. Now, that number has decreased to around 2,400. While this is a significant drop, any murder is intolerable—everyone deserves safe living conditions," DGP Kumar emphasized, reaffirming the state's dedication to public safety.
Regarding the Prime Minister's forthcoming visit to Siwan, DGP Kumar disclosed that comprehensive security measures are in place.
