Patna, Nov 27 (NationPress) Criminals engaged in illegal activities within Bihar are about to encounter stringent measures as the state police ramp up their efforts to seize unlawfully obtained assets.
The Bihar Police have commenced the process of assembling comprehensive records of offenders to confiscate their illicit properties, and this initiative is expected to accelerate shortly.
Bihar's Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, shared with the media on Thursday that, to combat illicit gains, the police have compiled a thorough dossier on 400 individuals and presented it to the court. The judicial system is currently assessing these cases.
Additionally, he mentioned that another 1,200 to 1,300 individuals have been identified, with documentation related to them being prepared.
These individuals encompass members of the land mafia, sand mafia, criminals, and others involved in various illegal trades, suspected of obtaining properties through illicit means. Their files will be submitted to the court in the near future.
Addressing inquiries regarding women’s safety and strategies to avert molestation incidents, the DGP unveiled a significant initiative: “Women police personnel will now patrol all educational institutions. The police department is acquiring 2,000 scooters this year for this purpose.”
“With these scooters, female officers will monitor during the arrival and release times of schools and colleges. Stringent preventive actions will be enforced against any wrongdoers,” stated DGP Kumar.
This initiative follows the announcement made by Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and newly appointed Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, who declared on Tuesday that his focus would be to enhance and broaden the good governance model initiated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Highlighting the need for strict oversight outside educational institutions, Samrat Choudhary emphasized that the police will closely observe individuals engaging in harassment or “Romeo-like” behavior near schools and colleges.
A specialized task force will be deployed, and targeted campaigns will be executed during school hours to ensure that molestation incidents are effectively prevented.
