New Bihar DGP Vows to Combat Crime with Determination

Patna, Dec 14 (NationPress) The newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) for Bihar, Vinay Kumar, has pledged a strong commitment to fighting crime and reducing criminal activities within the state.
Upon taking office, he presented an extensive strategy aimed at tackling issues that range from organized crime to cyber offences, with a significant emphasis on maintaining law and order.
DGP Kumar stressed the importance of taking decisive actions against criminal gangs. Police stations throughout the state will receive directives to investigate the assets of known criminals and swiftly report their findings to the police headquarters.
“The assets identified as belonging to criminals will be seized within ten days of the report. Properties associated with violations of prohibition and drug smuggling will also be confiscated,” Kumar stated.
“Our responsibility will be to confiscate the assets of criminals while conducting investigations. For any cases linked to law and order, we will execute a campaign for arrests,” he declared.
Reinforcing his focus on asset seizure, Kumar explained that during investigations, criminal properties will be swiftly attached, bolstering his wider initiative against illegal activities. This strategy also encompasses organized crime, drug trafficking, and breaches of prohibition laws.
DGP Kumar pointed out two critical issues, namely liquor mafias and cybercrime:
In accordance with Bihar's stringent prohibition laws, he assured that there would be intensified operations against individuals and networks engaged in the illegal liquor trade.
Acknowledging the escalating threat of cyber offences, Kumar promised to enhance the state's capabilities to effectively tackle these challenges.
“Bihar has recorded the highest number of cybercrime cases, marking considerable progress in addressing this contemporary threat. The low conviction rate in cybercrime matters is troubling, but I assure the public that measures are being implemented to accelerate investigations,” Kumar remarked.
The State Police Headquarters will assess all outstanding cases and provide detailed guidelines to guarantee quicker and more efficient investigations.
“In the near future, a new law school will be inaugurated, which will greatly aid in research. This will bolster our capacity to investigate and prosecute cases effectively,” he noted.
To ensure public safety, Kumar mentioned that law and order will be under constant surveillance.
He also expressed dedication to improving the judicial process by ensuring swift trials, aiming to deliver justice more effectively.
The DGP underscored the importance of uplifting the morale of the police force while undermining the confidence of criminals through decisive measures and reforms. His vision encompasses comprehensive strategies to support law enforcement, ensuring they are well-equipped and motivated to confront challenges.
