Patna, Jan 2 (NationPress) In a significant step towards enhancing the operational efficiency of the Bihar Police, Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar has sanctioned the reconfiguration of police zones throughout the state.

This initiative aims to bolster crime management, enhance law enforcement oversight, and accelerate the resolution of outstanding cases.

The police headquarters has formally issued directives regarding the updated police zone arrangement, representing a pivotal transformation in the policing and safety structure of Bihar.

“The main goal of this reconfiguration is to eliminate delays and reduce human error during investigations. With the new framework, accountability for police personnel will be clearly defined to ensure thorough investigations, allowing citizens to attain prompt and effective justice,” DGP Vinay Kumar shared with the media on Friday.

He emphasized that the revamped police zone framework would improve operational effectiveness and facilitate the management of intricate and sensitive cases, particularly those involving serious offenses.

To implement the strategy, a high-level conference was convened on December 31 between the DGP and senior law enforcement officials, where a comprehensive plan for the assignment of police inspectors and other personnel was devised.

In the near future, the police department anticipates significant reshuffles and new appointments as part of the reconfiguration effort, aimed at creating a more agile force that meets community needs effectively.

The DGP noted that while crime rates in the state have seen a decline, there remains room for enhancement.

“We firmly believe that we can only declare the situation fully improved when no severe crimes, such as murder, occur in Bihar,” Kumar stated.

Moreover, highlighting progress in combating Left Wing Extremism, the DGP remarked that Naxal activities in the state have decreased to nearly zero.

“Recently, three Naxal members surrendered to the Bihar Police along with their weapons. They had not participated in any Naxal activities for the past four years,” he reported.

Kumar also mentioned that the state government has established a comprehensive rehabilitation initiative for surrendered Naxals and their families, which includes job opportunities.

“We are striving to offer all possible support through government programs. Development projects are being implemented in Naxal-impacted regions to benefit the local populace and guide them towards mainstream progress,” he added.

The police zone reconfiguration is anticipated to be instrumental in reinforcing law enforcement, building public trust, and fostering sustainable peace and development throughout Bihar.
