Patna, Sep 8 (NationPress) The Bihar Police has ramped up its efforts against crime, apprehending over 2.28 lakh suspects from January to July 2025, which includes thousands of hardcore criminals and Maoists.
According to the Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order, Pankaj Kumar Darad, among those detained are 8,823 hardcore criminals and 141 Naxalites, many of whom have cash rewards for their capture.
“The proportion of hardcore criminals within total arrests stands at roughly 40%, marking a significant achievement for the Bihar Police,” he stated.
The ADG noted an increase in arrests compared to prior years.
In 2025 (up to July), 2,28,188 suspects were arrested.
In 2024 (full year), the total was 3,35,000 arrests. In 2023 (full year), there were 3,51,424 arrests, while in 2022 (full year), 3,46,332 suspects were taken into custody.
Authorities anticipate that this year's figures will exceed those of previous years, given the current pace of arrests.
The police are also concentrating on the recovery of illegal weapons and ammunition.
