Patna, Dec 27 (NationPress) The Bihar Police announced this week that the state has successfully eliminated the Maoist influence, while serious offenses such as murder, robbery, and riots have experienced a significant decline.
During the release of the annual performance report at the Police headquarters in Patna, Home Department Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary and Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar spoke to the media.
They explained that rigorous policing, strategic use of technology, and ongoing anti-crime efforts have contributed significantly to maintaining law and order throughout the state.
Bihar Declared Naxal-Free
DGP Vinay Kumar stated that the police have achieved complete success in areas previously afflicted by Maoism. 'Currently, there is not a single district in Bihar impacted by Naxalism,' he remarked.
Throughout the year, 220 Maoists were apprehended, and one was killed in a confrontation, as reported by official data.
Significant Drop in Major Crimes
According to police statistics, murder incidents fell by 7.72%, robberies saw a dramatic decline of 24.87%, and riots decreased by 17.97%. Officials credited this drop to concentrated policing strategies and preventive measures implemented statewide.
Highlighting the year's accomplishments of the Bihar government, the DGP noted that 3.35 lakh individuals were apprehended for serious crimes, including murder, robbery, dacoity, rape, and kidnapping.
As part of an initiative against criminal assets, Bihar Police and the Home Department seized properties belonging to 70 criminals, identified assets of 1,419 criminals for confiscation, and forwarded 405 asset confiscation cases to the courts.
DGP Kumar emphasized that these actions are essential to financially destabilize organized crime and mafia networks.
BNS and Preventive Measures
The state also implemented the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Under Section 126, preventative action was taken against 12.50 lakh individuals, successfully averting potential criminal activities in Bihar.
Prohibition and Cyber Crime Control
Strict enforcement of the prohibition law persisted throughout the year; 16.79 lakh liters of country liquor and 16.51 lakh liters of foreign liquor were confiscated during state-wide raids.
In response to the rising threat of cybercrime, 103 cybercrime cases were investigated, with actions taken based on technical and digital evidence.
DGP Vinay Kumar informed the media that an 'Abhaya Brigade' has been established in the state to enhance women's security.
He revealed that the police department plans to acquire approximately 2,000 scooters next year for use by women police personnel. These officers will be stationed at coaching centers, colleges, public areas, and crowded locations to monitor situations and respond rapidly to miscreants.
The DGP stated that this initiative aims to ensure swift responses and improve women's safety across Bihar.
Future Policing Focus
Senior police officials underscored that crime control, action against mafias, and public safety remain top priorities for the Bihar government. The DGP added that further steps will be taken to enhance policing effectiveness, transparency, and technology integration in the years to come.
