Bengaluru, Oct 31 (NationPress) A formal complaint has been submitted to the police, raising suspicions about the involvement of a daughter and her acquaintances in the alleged murder of her mother. This complaint was filed by the sister of the deceased at the Subramanyapura Police Station in Bengaluru on Friday, prompting the authorities to initiate an investigation.
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Netravathi, a resident of Uttarahalli, located near Subramanyapura in Bengaluru. Her sister, Anita K from KTM Layout, has lodged a complaint against five individuals, including Netravathi's daughter and her friends.
All the accused are minors, aged between 16 and 17, and are reported to be school dropouts. The deceased, Netravathi, was employed as a helper at a loan recovery company called V Nest.
A case has been registered under Sections 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police indicated that the incident reportedly occurred between 10:30 p.m. on October 25 and noon on October 27. The complaint was officially filed on the night of October 30.
According to police reports, Anita arrived at the station on October 27 to inform them that her younger sister, Netravathi, was found dead by hanging. She expressed doubts regarding the circumstances surrounding her sister’s death. Following her report, a case was registered at the Subramanyapura Police Station as an unnatural death under Section 194(3)(iv) of BNSS.
Subsequently, on October 29, Anita returned to the station to report that since the day of her sister's death, Netravathi's daughter had been missing. This led to another case being filed under Section 137(2) of BNS-2023.
As per police statements, on October 30, around 1:30 p.m., Netravathi's daughter returned home. She recounted that on October 25, around 10:30 p.m., while she and her mother were at home, her friends visited. When Netravathi threatened to call the police about their presence, they allegedly strangled her mother with a towel, dragged her to another room, and hanged her with a saree from a ceiling fan.
The daughter claimed that her friends then threatened her with a knife, warning her to remain silent, and subsequently left. Feeling terrified, she sought refuge at a friend’s house. Upon learning of her mother’s death, she returned home that day.
This indicated that the daughter had left her home on Saturday night and had been in hiding for approximately 3–4 days.
Based on her statement, the complainant voiced suspicions that the daughter, along with her friends, had orchestrated the murder of Netravathi and staged it as a suicide, according to police reports.
The complainant urged for legal actions against the accused to ensure justice for her sister. The police are actively investigating the case.
