Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Feb 3 (NationPress) A man, alleged to have raped and blackmailed a minor, was assaulted by a crowd of lawyers and bystanders at the Bhopal district court premises, leading to a confrontation between police and advocates.
This incident unfolded as the accused, named Osaf Ali Khan, arrived at court.
Footage of the altercation quickly spread on social media, depicting law enforcement attempting to shield the accused, while a throng, inclusive of some lawyers, attacked him.
As soon as police arrived at the court, a group of lawyers targeted the accused.
This turmoil, characterized by pushing and shoving, interrupted court proceedings temporarily. Authorities resorted to force to escort the accused into the courtroom.
The police had apprehended Khan on Monday night, linked to the rape case involving an 11th-grade female student from the Kohefiza area.
The matter came to light when the victim, a student at a reputed school in the Shahpura area, lodged a complaint at the local police station, claiming she was blackmailed and raped by Khan.
In her report, the victim recounted that in July of the previous year, Khan took her to an isolated location in Khanugaon and sexually assaulted her. She stated that when she fought back, the accused subdued her with a promise of marriage.
Khan had clandestinely recorded an explicit video of the victim during the assault, later demanding one lakh rupees from her, threatening to release the video publicly. Fearful of disgrace, the victim managed to gather 40,000 rupees and handed it over to him.
Moreover, he coerced her into reciting Islamic prayers against her will. The police have detained Khan, confiscating his mobile phone for forensic analysis.
As per SHO Krishna Gopal Shukla of Kohefiza Police Station, the accused frequently visited the area near the school's vicinity to meet the victim's friend, through whom he became familiar with her.
