Bhopal, Dec 19 (NationPress) The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is set to convene a regional gathering of Urban Development Ministers from northern and central states at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal this Saturday, according to an official statement released on Friday.
The meeting will be chaired by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and State Minister for Urban Development and Housing Kailash Vijayvargiya are also expected to attend.
The primary aim of this meeting is to enhance collaboration and coordination between the Central and state governments for the successful implementation of significant urban development initiatives, as stated in a press release by Sanket Bhondwe, Commissioner of the Urban Development and Housing Department.
Ministers of Urban Development and State Ministers from Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, along with senior officials from the Government of India and the respective state administrations, will be participating in the meeting.
On this occasion, the Ministry will also unveil the work-direction booklet for the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26.
The extensive meeting will be segmented into five sessions, allowing for thorough discussions on critical urban development issues.
Topics of discussion will include solid waste management, dumping sites, and the challenges surrounding cleanliness and sanitation.
The status of ongoing housing projects and those approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) will be reviewed, along with discussions on solutions to expedite the allocation of houses to beneficiaries.
Additionally, the meeting will evaluate the progress, quality, and timely completion of projects under the AMRUT scheme, both current and proposed.
Later that evening, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, together with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, will inaugurate the first phase of the Bhopal Metro project.
