Patna, July 24 (NationPress) Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has publicly criticized the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, for attempting to instigate 'hooliganism' within the legislative assembly. Sinha emphasized that such disruptive behaviors will not be tolerated.
The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar has sparked intense confrontations, spilling from the streets into the Assembly, where the opposition has been staging vigorous protests.
The situation escalated as the Deputy Chief Minister issued a pointed warning to Tejashwi, accusing him of trying to derail the Assembly's proceedings through hooliganism.
Sinha remarked, "I am the son of a teacher, not a coward. I know how to handle such thugs," while speaking to the media outside the Assembly.
In response to Tejashwi's comments about boycotting elections, he quipped, "First, focus on your Raghopur seat."
He further asserted that the RJD's culture of hooliganism will not be effective under the current administration, which promotes good governance.
The opposition has persistently disrupted the Assembly, demanding discussions regarding purported irregularities in the voter list revisions ahead of the forthcoming Bihar elections.
On Wednesday, a heated exchange occurred between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi, with the JD(U) leader recalling the Lalu-Rabri period to Tejashwi.
Deputy CM Sinha and RJD MLA Bhai Virendra also engaged in a verbal confrontation, with the latter alleged to have used inappropriate language.
Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav intervened, instructing Bhai Virendra to apologize and admonishing ministers and Sinha due to the tumult within the House.
The revision of the voter list has become a critical issue in Bihar's political landscape leading to the elections, with the opposition alleging that names of the underprivileged and migrant workers are being unjustly removed from the electoral rolls.
In contrast, the ruling NDA insists that the SIR is essential to eliminate fraudulent and illegal voters.
