Patna, Sep 2 (NationPress) The BJP has declared a complete Bihar Bandh on September 4 in response to the alleged offensive comments made regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother during the INDIA Bloc’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga.
The shutdown will take place from 7 am until 12 noon, with emergency services and railways being exempted from the restrictions.
The NDA allies have shown their full support for this bandh, which will be significantly spearheaded by the BJP Mahila Morcha - marking a first in the political landscape of Bihar.
During this period, roads and traffic will be halted, although rail services will proceed as normal.
The INDIA Bloc, led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, organized the Voter Adhikar Yatra to protest the revision of voter lists by the Election Commission.
The yatra concluded in Patna on September 1.
During its stop in Darbhanga, remarks considered “objectionable” were reportedly made against PM Modi’s deceased mother in the presence of leading figures from the Congress and RJD.
This situation has ignited a controversy and drawn condemnation from the BJP and its allies.
BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal denounced the incident, labeling it a “blot” on democracy.
“A mother is a mother, regardless of whether she is associated with RJD, Congress, or BJP. A mother embodies divinity. No one can fathom insulting a mother from any political platform. This incident has brought shame to the entire state of Bihar. Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav have yet to express any remorse,” he stated.
Jaiswal urged the public to support the bandh fully, emphasizing that this protest will be a peaceful yet robust reaction to the insult.
In a virtual address during the Jeevika Didis program, PM Modi also conveyed his anguish over the occurrence.
“The opposition has not only insulted my mother but also countless mothers across this nation. They must apologize to Chhathi Maiya. I urge everyone to oppose the leaders of the INDIA Bloc wherever they are encountered,” PM Modi remarked.
The BJP is determined to take this matter to the public ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, transforming it into a significant point of contention between the ruling NDA and the opposition bloc.
