The shootout transpired in a garden close to Kab village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Ranitalab police station. This incident occurred as police attempted to apprehend suspects involved in the robbery of a paan shopkeeper, Sunny Kumar, last month in Saidabad village.

Upon the police's approach, the suspects opened fire, prompting the police to respond in kind.

During the altercation, one of the suspects, Suraj Kumar, a resident of Pairpura village under Paliganj police station, was injured by a bullet in his leg.

He is currently receiving medical treatment in Patna. Another suspect, Alok Kumar, was captured while attempting to escape the scene.

The Ranitalab police managed to recover a makeshift firearm and other materials from the apprehended individuals.

According to Patna West City SP Bhanu Pratap Singh, a special team was assembled based on intelligence reports regarding the suspects' presence in Kab village.

Upon arrival, the suspects began firing, resulting in a brief exchange of gunfire that left Suraj Kumar injured and Alok Kumar in custody.

“The police were actively seeking these individuals in connection with the robbery of a paan shopkeeper last month. Acting on credible information, we arrived at the site, but the suspects opened fire on our team. In the ensuing exchange, one was injured while the other was arrested,” Singh stated.

Both suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, with ongoing efforts to identify and capture other members of their criminal gang.
