Patna, May 1 (NationPress) The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 will be held for the first time in Bihar, with events taking place in five different locations, including the capital, Patna.

This marks a historic moment as Bihar hosts this esteemed youth sports event, featuring 27 diverse sports.

With a particular emphasis on fencing, young athletes from all corners of the state are diligently preparing to showcase their talents.

Athletes participating in the games expressed their enthusiasm and shared their experiences with IANS on Wednesday.

The event will be inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 4, with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expected to attend the ceremony in person.

One participant remarked to IANS, "This is the first time Khelo India Youth Games are being hosted in Bihar. PM Modi will inaugurate it via video link, and CM Nitish Kumar will also be present. The inauguration will be magnificent. There is a fencing camp in Motihari where young athletes are training hard. The government is putting significant effort into promoting sports in Bihar."

Motihari is becoming a central location for fencing training, with athletes intensively preparing at the Khel Bhavan.

A total of 24 fencers will represent Bihar, including 14 from Motihari, seven from Nalanda, two from Patna, and one from Bettiah.

Younger fencer Manjit Kumar expressed his excitement, stating, "We have trained extensively. Now, we must perform well in the trials for the Youth Games. It is a joyous occasion as this event is being organized in Bihar for the very first time. Players will receive immense encouragement."

According to Appu Kumar, Secretary of the Fencing Association, the fencing events will take place in Rajgir from May 11 to May 15.

"The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 is being organized in Bihar for the first time. PM Modi will inaugurate it virtually on May 4. This program will run from May 4 to May 15 across five districts in Bihar. The fencing competitions will occur in Rajgir from May 11 to May 15," he informed IANS.

He continued that preparations are in full swing, with training camps already established.

"We have set up a camp at Motihari Khel Bhavan. Out of 30 participants, 24 will represent Bihar. We are hopeful that Bihar will secure numerous medals," Kumar concluded.

As enthusiasm builds among athletes and officials, the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 is set to be a landmark event in Bihar's sporting narrative, further energizing the state's dedication to nurturing young talent.
