New Delhi, May 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday celebrated the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, recently conducted in Bihar, as a remarkable success and a reflection of India's burgeoning sporting culture. He emphasized the record-breaking achievements and the increasing international acknowledgment of the nation's youth athletes.
While addressing the 122nd episode of his monthly radio show, Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister remarked, "Recently, the Khelo India Games were a remarkable success. Five cities in Bihar hosted this event, featuring competitions across various categories. Over 5,000 athletes from across the nation participated, and they have commended the sporting spirit and warmth of the people of Bihar."
He pointed out that this edition represented a new milestone for Indian sports on the world stage.
"Bihar is a very special place. Many extraordinary events took place here during this competition. This was the inaugural edition of the Khelo India Youth Games that reached a global audience via the Olympic channel. Viewers worldwide appreciated the talents of our young athletes. I extend my congratulations to all medalists, particularly the top three states -- Maharashtra, Haryana, and Rajasthan," PM Modi stated.
He highlighted the exceptional performances, noting, "A total of 26 records were established at Khelo India this year. The outstanding performances of Asmita Dhone from Maharashtra, Harshvardhan Sahu from Odisha, and Tushar Chaudhary from Uttar Pradesh in Weight Lifting won everyone’s admiration. Additionally, Sairaj Pardesi from Maharashtra set three new records."
He also commended athletes competing in various athletic events, adding, "In athletics, Qadir Khan and Sheikh Zeeshan from Uttar Pradesh, along with Hansraj from Rajasthan, delivered exceptional performances. This year, Bihar secured 36 medals."
Stressing the importance of such tournaments in developing young talent, he remarked, "Those who play blossom. This tournament is of great importance for young sporting talent. Events like these will significantly contribute to the future of Indian sports."
