Diu, May 19 (NationPress) The inaugural Khelo India Beach Games commenced on Monday at Ghoghla Beach in Diu, featuring over 1,350 athletes from more than 30 states and Union Territories. The event was officially opened by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and is being organized by the Sports Authority of India in collaboration with the administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
In a message to the organizers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the Khelo India Beach Games as a “watershed moment” in the annals of India's sporting journey. He emphasized that these games would bolster India's domestic sports ecosystem while also celebrating coastal culture.
