Patna, Nov 4 (NationPress) The Patna Police reported on Tuesday that two vehicles have been confiscated, believed to be utilized in the election campaign for JDU candidate Anant Kumar Singh in Mokama without the necessary permissions.
According to an official announcement, the police stated that on November 3, around 4 PM, a team led by Mokama SHO Santosh Kumar — along with Executive Officer Santosh Kumar Rajak, appointed as FST Magistrate for the assembly election — was on patrol to uphold the Model Code of Conduct when they discovered the two vehicles in breach of regulations.
A black Mahindra Scorpio (registration number BR-01PL-1107) was stopped, and the driver, Manish Kumar, informed the authorities that the vehicle was being used for Anant Kumar Singh's campaign without permission.
A Toto e-rickshaw displaying an "Arrow" (JDU) banner was also seized. Its driver, Ansuman Kumar, similarly conveyed to officials that it was employed in the campaign, according to the statement.
Both vehicles have been confiscated.
The police confirmed that an FIR has been filed against JDU candidate Anant Kumar Singh, his agent Rajiv Ranjan, and the vehicle owners/drivers under Mokama Police station Case No. 417/25 — Sections 174/223 BNS & 119(2)/190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Authorities are proceeding with the necessary legal actions.
Currently, Anant Kumar Singh is in judicial custody at Beur Jail concerning the Dularchand murder case.
Dularchand Yadav, a supporter of Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi alias Lallu Mukhiya, was murdered on Thursday (October 30), escalating tensions in the Mokama area.
Initial reports suggested that Dularchand Yadav had been shot. He had also received a gunshot wound to his leg, yet it was not the cause of his demise.
The post-mortem examination revealed that the fatal injury was inflicted by a vehicle running over his chest, leading to multiple fractures and ruptured lungs.
