BJP chief Nitin Nabin begins two-day Uttar Pradesh visit, eyes 2027 polls
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin arrived in Lucknow on 4 July for a two-day organisational visit aimed at reviewing the party's preparedness for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The visit, which runs through 5 July, was rescheduled from its original 3–4 July dates and is being viewed as a significant exercise in sharpening the BJP's ground-level machinery in the state.
Arrival and Roadshow
Nabin landed at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow at around 11 am, where party workers gave him a large welcome. He then proceeded to the BJP state headquarters via a roadshow passing through Alambagh, T.N. Chaturvedi Chauraha, Charbagh, Deendayal Smritika, Maharana Pratap Chauraha, and Burlington Chauraha, with supporters lining the route at multiple points.
Key Organisational Meetings
At the party headquarters, Nabin chaired a high-level meeting with state office-bearers, regional presidents, state morcha presidents, and district presidents. Discussions centred on the party's forward action plan, upcoming programmes, and election strategy. He also addressed the Shakti Kendra Convenor Conference of the Awadh region, where booth-level mobilisation and grassroots strengthening were listed as priority areas.
Later in the day, Nabin held meetings with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, both Deputy Chief Ministers, BJP Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Members of the Legislative Council, and senior National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders. He also interacted with the Uttar Pradesh BJP Core Committee.
Temple Visit and Dinner
At around 4 pm, the BJP national president offered prayers at the Shri Hanuman Setu Temple in Lucknow. In the evening, he met prominent personalities from various fields at the Lucknow residence of Padma Shri awardee Dr Vidya Bindu Singh, followed by a dinner with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Day Two Agenda
On 5 July, Nabin is scheduled to begin his engagements with a tea interaction with former Uttar Pradesh BJP presidents, followed by a joint meeting with NDA leaders in the state. According to the party, the overall visit is aimed at strengthening the organisation at every level ahead of the next Assembly polls.
This comes as the BJP moves to consolidate its newly-constituted Uttar Pradesh unit well in advance of the 2027 elections — a contest widely seen as a key indicator of the party's national momentum heading into the next general election cycle.
