BJP Claims Dalits Find More Justice Under Non-Congress Rule
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Feb 24 (NationPress) The General Secretary of the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the State Coordinator for its training initiative, P. Rajeev, claimed on Tuesday that the Congress party has taken advantage of the Dalit community for its own political gain throughout India.
He remarked that the call for a Dalit Chief Minister in Karnataka typically arises only when Congress perceives a threat to its political survival.
During a press conference at the state BJP headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru, Rajeev stated that whenever Congress notices a drop in its popularity or when Dalits start to withdraw support, it raises the demand for a Dalit Chief Minister as a tactic to placate the community.
He criticized this approach as a mere strategy to mislead Dalits, asserting that the Congress has failed to ensure justice for them.
Rajeev pointed out that despite a substantial increase in the State Budget compared to the Covid-19 period, the current Congress-led government in Karnataka has not allocated resources to the Dalit community comparable to what the previous BJP administration provided during the pandemic.
He insisted that Dalits have experienced more significant justice under non-Congress governments nationwide.
In response to another question, Rajeev mentioned that land ownership continues to be an unattainable goal for many Dalits in Karnataka.
He accused the current Congress-led state government of not granting even a single gunta of land to Dalit farmers.
Rajeev encouraged a comparison between the number of Dalits who attained land ownership through land and housing schemes during the leadership of former Chief Ministers B.S. Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai and the current Congress government's performance.
Additionally, he announced that a training workshop for district teams across Karnataka is scheduled for February 26 at the Scouts and Guides Hall, chaired by State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra, with the presence of BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh.
Rajeev noted that a team from each training district has been established in the state.
Training sessions will occur at 1,156 different locations.
On average, around 200 office-bearers will participate in each training session, totaling over two lakh office-bearers who will be trained as part of this initiative.
Vikas Kumar. P, the State Coordinator of the training campaign, along with campaign members Madhushree Manjunath and Poornima Prakash, was also present at the press conference.
