Bengaluru, March 5 (NationPress) The BJP conducted a significant protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Wednesday, opposing the Karnataka government's purported misuse of SCP-TSP funds and labeling it as anti-Dalit.
SCP refers to the Special Component Plan and TSP stands for Tribal Sub-Plan.
These initiatives are designed to provide benefits to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), which were introduced by the Planning Commission in the 1970s.
Speaking to the crowd, BJP state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra stated, “The Congress government, led by Siddaramaiah, is corrupt and has failed to effectively implement its guarantees while misusing funds designated for the development of SCs and STs. This is why we have gathered here today to send a warning.”
He added, “The corrupt and anti-Dalit Congress regime must face consequences. Our struggle will persist, and I urge everyone to unite in this cause. A large protest is scheduled for the same location tomorrow morning, and I encourage all to join.”
Vijayendra asserted that BJP administrations have never misappropriated funds intended for SCs/STs and will continue to uphold this principle.
He noted that the BJP has been actively opposing the government’s anti-Dalit policies, emphasizing its commitment to SCs, STs, and marginalized communities.
The BJP has established 14 teams to spearhead a collective movement against the government’s alleged fund misappropriation.
He criticized the Congress for failing to fulfill its pre-election promises of justice and development for all communities, including SCs/STs.
Vijayendra stressed the importance of the BJP securing power in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
He expressed optimism that the upcoming BBMP, District Panchayat, and Taluk Panchayat elections would invigorate party workers.
“We will come together, contest the elections, and achieve victory,” he confidently declared.
Opposition Leader R. Ashoka criticized the state government, alleging, “There are insufficient funds in the treasury, leading to the diversion of resources intended for Dalit welfare towards guarantees. Siddaramaiah is acting like 'Siddanna, Loot Guarantee Anna.'”
He accused CM Siddaramaiah of pushing the state towards financial ruin and labeled him a “champion of borrowing.”
He also claimed the government allocated minimal resources to various development corporations, including those meant for SCs and STs.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, mentioned that the BJP has initiated a statewide movement against the 'misuse' of funds earmarked for Dalit welfare.
He linked this initiative to the BJP’s dedication to Dalit welfare and its pro-Dalit stance.
He pointed out that BBMP and local body elections may soon occur due to a court ruling and encouraged party workers to connect with the public, visit homes, and inspire them. He assured that this effort would lead to success.
Former Deputy CM Dr. Ashwath Narayan, along with MLAs S.R. Vishwanath, Byrathi Basavaraj, Manappa Vajjal, Uday Garudachar, Raghu, Bhagirathi Marulasiddiah, former MLA Halappa, BJP committee coordinator Dattatri, and various party leaders and workers participated in the protest.
