Kolkata, March 9 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal raised serious questions on Monday regarding the actions of Kolkata Police officers who rendered formal salutes to former State Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar during his attendance at a meeting with the full-bench of the Election Commission of India (ECI) earlier that day as part of a Trinamool Congress delegation.
Notably, Kumar was also recently declared to have been "elected unopposed" to the Rajya Sabha as a candidate for the Trinamool Congress.
The Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal and seasoned BJP leader, Suvendu Adhikari, expressed his concerns about the appropriateness of the policemen saluting a retired officer, especially one with a controversial history.
