BJP Slams Trinamool Leaders for False Claims Against West Bengal CEO
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 3 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has leveled accusations against the Trinamool Congress leaders and a Minister of West Bengal for making unfounded claims against the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Agarwal.
The BJP also expressed that the Trinamool Congress's choice to nominate former West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar for the Rajya Sabha has left numerous former bureaucrats affiliated with the ruling party feeling disheartened.
Amit Malviya, the BJP's IT Cell Chief and central observer for West Bengal, shared a comprehensive statement on social media regarding this issue on Tuesday afternoon.
In his official remarks on the social media platform X, Malviya articulated that the grievances of the Trinamool Congress towards Manoj Kumar Agarwal stem from his refusal to comply with the demands of the ruling party, a stark contrast to the behavior of many other bureaucrats and police officers in the region.
According to Malviya, the Trinamool Congress had grown accustomed to subservient officials who did not challenge the regime. He highlighted that Rajiva Sinha, a former State Election Commissioner, appeared to be frustrated after Rajeev Kumar received a Rajya Sabha nomination post his tenure as DGP, despite his evident compliance. This arrangement suited the ruling establishment perfectly, as mentioned by the BJP leader in his social media communication.
Malviya further stated that the reason behind the Trinamool Congress targeting the West Bengal CEO was his commitment to ensuring that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) proceeded strictly within the legal framework, disregarding the manipulations of the Mamata Banerjee-led administration.
He asserted that Agarwal's principled stance unsettled the Trinamool Congress government, making him a target for their ire.
“Instead of honoring institutional integrity, the response has been a personal attack. Chandrima Bhattacharya, a junior minister with independent charge and a known loyalist of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, launched direct verbal assaults against the West Bengal CEO. She was joined by party affiliates in a coordinated smear campaign. The CEO's firm and factual rebuttal has only rendered these attacks as immature and desperate,” Malviya's post conveyed.
According to the BJP leader, this aggressive personal campaign against the West Bengal CEO raises significant questions.
“Why is the Trinamool Congress so intimidated by the SIR? Why disseminate dubious narratives in the media? Why hasten to the Supreme Court only to return disappointed? Why threaten protests against a constitutional authority? What exactly is at stake?” Malviya questioned.
In conclusion, he emphasized that West Bengal deserves transparency and integrity in its electoral processes, and the citizens will voice their opinions in the forthcoming state Assembly elections.
