Bengaluru, March 13 (NationPress) A meeting of the BJP's state core committee took place on Friday at the party's headquarters, 'Jagannath Bhavan', in Bengaluru, focusing on candidate selection and electoral strategies for the upcoming bypolls in two Assembly seats within the state.
The gathering, led by party state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra, saw participation from prominent figures including Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka BJP in-charge and National General Secretary Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashoka, and several other key leaders.
After the meeting, Vijayendra informed the media that deliberations centered around the nomination of candidates for the Bagalkote and Davanagere South constituencies.
He noted that the committee reviewed potential candidates, whose names will be forwarded to the party's central leadership in New Delhi for final approval.
Vijayendra further mentioned that the party had already finalized candidates for the Legislative Council elections, and the committee emphasized the need for all leaders and workers to unite in pursuit of victory for BJP candidates in both the Assembly and Legislative Council polls.
Additionally, he revealed that a separate discussion had occurred with aspirants and influential party figures from the Davanagere South constituency. Leaders were encouraged to move past previous disagreements and collaborate towards securing the party's success.
Vijayendra confirmed that the finalized names from the core committee discussions would be dispatched to the party hierarchy in Delhi by Thursday or Friday.
Addressing concerns regarding discontent among certain leaders, he stated that the party had already engaged in private conversations with them. “We have reached out to everyone to discuss these issues openly. We have made it clear that all disputes must be set aside for the party's collective benefit,” he explained.
He added that representatives from both factions within Davanagere were convened for talks and expressed optimism that the situation would be resolved soon.
“The primary focus during our discussions was on selecting candidates for the by-elections in the Bagalkote and Davanagere South constituencies. The names deliberated will be sent to the high command. Candidates for the Legislative Council elections have already been announced, and strategies to ensure their success were also discussed in the meeting,” Vijayendra stated.
“Pralhad Joshi, Govind Karjol, and I, along with the aspirants, have agreed to put aside our differences. The candidate list will be submitted to Delhi today or tomorrow. We have addressed the concerns of those unhappy with ticket allocations privately,” he added.
In response to inquiries about factionalism, which previously hindered the party's performance in the Lok Sabha elections, resulting in a win for Congress candidate Prabha Mallikarjun, Vijayendra indicated that discussions had also covered this topic.
