Agartala, Aug 31 (NationPress) Delivering a powerful statement to its coalition partner, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized that the BJP government places the development and welfare of its citizens as a top priority, and that those who break the law will face consequences.
While speaking at a gathering commemorating the 125th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' at East Takchaya in Asharambari, Khowai district, the Chief Minister stated: "I have empowered the police to act decisively against individuals who resort to violence and take the law into their hands. Lawbreakers will be held accountable; no one is above the law."
CM Saha, who also oversees the Home portfolio, expressed deep concern regarding the attack on BJP Karyakartas that occurred on July 27 in Asharambari.
He announced that the police, acting independently of political influence, have been striving to safeguard the democratic rights of the populace and uphold the rule of law.
According to reports, TMP members allegedly assaulted BJP officials during a gathering in Asharambari coinciding with the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on July 27, resulting in injuries to nine party workers.
The TMP, led by former royal descendant Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, is an ally of the ruling BJP and includes two ministers in Chief Minister Saha’s Cabinet.
CM Saha described 'Mann Ki Baat' as a non-political initiative, wherein the Prime Minister showcases various individual and organizational achievements nationwide.
Referring to the violent incident on July 27 as "a dark chapter that has tarnished Tripura's reputation nationally," CM Saha expressed his determination to attend the August 31 'Mann Ki Baat' in the same location to demonstrate that the BJP will not be intimidated by violence.
"For 35 years under the Left parties and an additional five with Congress, such violent politics prevailed in Tripura. Our administration is committed to abolishing this culture of violence," he asserted.
CM Saha also criticized Congress and RJD figures in Bihar for reportedly making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Modi and his deceased mother.
"A Chaiwala (tea vendor) and a man from humble beginnings has risen to become the Prime Minister. This reality seems to trouble Congress, RJD, and other opposition factions. The citizens of Bihar, and indeed the entire nation, will not tolerate such disrespectful and inflammatory comments," he stated.
Highlighting the government's initiatives aimed at enhancing the living standards and cultural preservation of tribal communities, CM Saha remarked: "The BJP government is committed to uplifting all communities, including our Janajati brothers and sisters."
Numerous BJP leaders, including state party official and prominent tribal figure Bipin Debbarma, were present at the 'Mann Ki Baat' event.
