Mumbai, Sep 8 (NationPress) The spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Syed Zafar Islam, asserted on Monday that the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms initiated by the Central government are poised to significantly enhance the nation's economy. He emphasized that the trade sector will reap substantial benefits, leading to the creation of new job opportunities while alleviating the financial strain on ordinary citizens.

Zafar Islam remarked that when Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister in 2014, the economy was in dire straits due to the previous UPA administration. He noted the absence of growth, widespread policy paralysis, corruption, and soaring prices. The tax collection process was convoluted and lacked transparency.

“The government led by Prime Minister Modi has revitalized a struggling economy. Transitioning from one of the five most vulnerable economies to being among the ‘top five’ globally is a testament to the success of the Modi administration. The latest GST reforms are set to further invigorate the economy. The needs and aspirations of the common man and the middle class are central to these reforms. The reduction in GST rates will positively impact the economy in the long run and help manage inflation effectively,” he stated.

The BJP leader claimed that the reduction in GST rates will greatly benefit citizens across all states, regardless of the governing party. “Every household, including the underprivileged and middle class, as well as entrepreneurs of all sizes, traders, and businesspeople, will experience significant advantages,” he added.

He also highlighted a sarcastic remark made by the Congress regarding the GST reforms, which compared the words Bidi and Bihar based on their initial letters.

He criticized Congress for engaging in such trivial politics.

“The Congress party has developed a penchant for politicizing every issue. They may continue with their low-level politics, but the Modi government will persist in its development-focused agenda for the benefit of all citizens,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the BJP expressed confidence in winning the upcoming Vice Presidential election, asserting that the UPA will be completely sidelined.

“UPA members are also growing weary of Rahul Gandhi's juvenile politics, and the UPA risks facing cross-voting. Caution is essential for both the UPA and Rahul Gandhi. Therefore, Sanjay Raut should advise Rahul Gandhi to proceed with care,” stated BJP media head Navnath Ban on Monday.

Point of View

It is crucial to approach the GST reforms with a balanced perspective, recognizing their potential benefits for economic growth while also considering the varying impacts across different demographics. This is an evolving story that warrants ongoing monitoring and analysis.
