BJP Leaders Commemorate Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Centenary and His Lasting Impact on India

New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) As India commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, BJP leaders have gathered to celebrate his remarkable contributions to India's political framework and its growth. The day was filled with tributes, reflections, and cherished memories shared by those who had close associations with him.
Former BJP MP Roopa Ganguly shared her thoughts on Vajpayee’s governance philosophy, emphasizing his commitment to the public interest.
She reminisced about her early experiences in West Bengal, where there was initial skepticism regarding development initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. However, as infrastructure projects progressed, especially roads linking major cities such as Delhi, Bombay, and Kolkata, people began to recognize the long-term advantages.
"Good governance is not a solitary effort; it’s about tackling issues with the public's welfare in mind," Ganguly stated.
"When the roads began to take shape, it became clear that the Prime Minister in Delhi was thinking ahead, connecting cities for the common good. Today, PM Modi is following in Vajpayee's footsteps, drawing from his vision."
She expressed her deep regret for not having met Vajpayee personally, referring to him and senior BJP leaders like Lal Krishna Advani as her 'gurus.'
Former MP Poonam Mahajan took a moment to commend an article by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encouraging the youth of India to delve into and comprehend Vajpayee’s principles.
"Atal Ji remained steadfast in his principles and ideals for this nation," Mahajan remarked.
"I was in Delhi during the elections of 1996, 1998, and 1999, and even after the 2004 setback, I witnessed his unwavering dedication to the BJP's vision. I recall discussions at the dining table, where Atal would stress the importance of advancing with the same determination and ideological integrity, irrespective of the challenges we faced."
She further noted that Prime Minister Modi's article emphasizes this legacy of strong leadership and commitment to one's beliefs, describing it as an inspiring message for the youth of India.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, referring to him as the "architect of India’s transition into the 21st century."
In an article commemorating Vajpayee’s centenary, PM Modi underscored the former Prime Minister’s crucial role in propelling India’s economic progress and his steadfast leadership during challenging political periods.
He reflected on Vajpayee's lasting contributions, particularly during his tenure in the Opposition, where he faced significant criticism, including accusations of being a "traitor" by some, yet he remained steadfast.
