Guwahati, Oct 10 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking turn of events in the investigation surrounding the death of Zubeen Garg, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended two of his Personal Security Officers (PSOs), named Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya, on Friday. This brings the total number of arrests linked to the demise of the legendary Assamese singer to 7, with the duo being remanded to 5 days' police custody.
The arrests were made following four days of intensive questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) overseeing this high-profile case.
Both PSOs appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court, where the SIT requested a 14-day custody for further questioning. However, the court granted only a 5-day police custody for the two individuals.
Sources indicate that the arrests were made after their suspension on October 7 due to allegations of severe financial misconduct.
The CID had been scrutinizing the two for several days amid suspicions of fund misappropriation related to the late singer’s finances.
Investigators have reportedly discovered significant evidence of large financial transactions totaling several crores of rupees linked to the accounts of the two PSOs.
Initial findings reveal that transactions amounting to approximately ₹70 lakh were traced to the account of Nandeshwar Bora, while about ₹40 lakh was associated with Paresh Baishya.
These transactions were allegedly made through digital payment platforms and are suspected to involve funds belonging to Zubeen Garg.
Officials stated that the SIT is currently investigating whether the two PSOs had any direct involvement in managing Garg’s financial matters or in diverting his assets.
The arrests could potentially yield critical insights into the financial circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
As a result of Friday’s developments, the total number of individuals arrested in connection with the case has reached 7.
