Patna, Oct 11 (NationPress) In a surprising turn of events just before the Bihar Assembly elections, Mishrilal Yadav, the BJP MLA representing the Alinagar constituency in Darbhanga district, has officially parted ways with the party.
Yadav, a notable figure from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), expressed his decision to leave the BJP due to ongoing feelings of "humiliation" and what he described as the party's "arrogant" approach towards leaders of the backward community.
"We have endured humiliation while being part of the BJP. We faced torment within the party, and our dignity was not maintained," Yadav stated.
Reflecting on his political journey, he remarked, "I won the 2020 election from a seat where no NDA MLA had triumphed in the last 30 years, yet the party continued to disregard me," he added.
Yadav further alleged that the BJP has strayed from its roots as a cadre-based organization.
"Currently, only sycophants are listened to within the BJP. Genuine and diligent leaders are pushed aside. The party has lost its way and become intoxicated by power," he asserted.
While Yadav has not disclosed his immediate political plans, he hinted at the possibility of aligning with a "secular party."
"I consider myself a secular individual, so I might join a secular party. Nevertheless, I am determined to contest from the Alinagar seat and secure victory once more," he stated.
He also suggested that his son, who has held a district head position for the last decade, may also run in the upcoming elections, although he did not clarify under which party's banner.
Mishrilal Yadav's political career has been quite eventful. He won the 2020 Assembly election while representing Mukesh Sahani's Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP), which was then allied with the NDA.
Following the VIP's division in 2022, three out of four of its MLAs, including Yadav, joined the BJP.
Despite his initial loyalty, tensions have been rising in recent months.
Yadav was recently spotted with leaders from the RJD, raising speculation about his potential defection—a possibility he had previously denied.
However, after being denied a ticket, his discontent became evident, ultimately leading to his resignation.
