Kolkata, Oct 16 (NationPress) Another individual has been detained in relation to the assault on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and party MLA Shankar Ghosh in Nagrakata, located in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.

This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals apprehended in the attack case to six.

As per police reports, a search operation took place in the Nagrakata region on Wednesday night, leading to the arrest of a suspect named Mannan Sarkar.

On Thursday, Jalpaiguri Additional Superintendent of Police Samir Ahmed confirmed, "A suspect linked to the incident was apprehended in Nagrakata last night. His identity is Mannan Sarkar. We will request his custody following his court appearance and are looking into the possibility of additional suspects involved in the incident."

Prior to this, five individuals had been taken into custody regarding the attack on the BJP leaders.
