New Delhi, June 22 (NationPress) The national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), B. L. Santosh, announced on Saturday that the party's primary membership has surpassed the 14-crore milestone.
In a post on the social media platform X, Santosh stated, “The primary membership of @BJP4India has exceeded the 14-crore mark. This achievement is a result of the hard work from every booth-level worker. Despite halting the large-scale macro campaign, our focus on booth-level activities has facilitated this remarkable growth.”
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first active member of the BJP when he initiated the party's nationwide 'active membership campaign' on October 16 of the previous year.
The event was attended by BJP national president J.P. Nadda and Vinod Tawde, the convener of the National Membership Campaign, marking a significant phase in the party's 'Sangathan Parv Membership Campaign-2024'.
PM Modi shared images from the event on X, showcasing his pride in being the inaugural active member of the BJP.
He detailed the criteria for becoming an active member, stating, "To be eligible, a worker must enroll at least 50 new members within a booth or an assembly seat. This qualification allows them to run for elections at the Mandal Committee and higher positions within the party. These individuals will receive numerous opportunities to contribute to the party’s mission in various capacities in the future," he emphasized in his post.
The BJP's National Membership Campaign was first inaugurated by PM Modi on September 2 last year at the party's central office expansion.
The 'Sangathan Parv Membership Campaign-2024' has already surpassed nine crore members as of October 15, 2024. In Uttar Pradesh alone, the BJP claimed to have achieved over two crore members.
Following the completion of the first two phases of the membership drive, the third phase commenced, concentrating on the growth of the party's active membership base.
