New Delhi, Sep 11 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared a nationwide Seva Pakhwada (Service Fortnight) to take place from September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, until October 2, commemorating the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal outlined the objectives of this initiative, which aims to extend government welfare programs to the underprivileged, promote cleanliness, guarantee water supply, and spearhead environmental conservation campaigns.

Yadav emphasized that PM Modi has consistently highlighted the significance of public service and social reform, first during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and subsequently as Prime Minister.

“Today, arrangements for clean drinking water and sanitation facilities are in place even in the most remote rural areas of the country. Thanks to the Prime Minister’s commitment to environmental protection, India is advancing on the global stage in conservation efforts,” he remarked.

He noted that October 2 is a significant date as it marks the birth anniversaries of both Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. “To honor these two esteemed leaders and reinforce the Swadeshi spirit, the BJP has planned special programs during the Pakhwada,” Yadav stated.

Bansal highlighted that this fortnight will showcase the BJP’s dedication to service-driven politics.

“The essence is that political initiatives should reflect service, creativity, and dedication. From PM Modi’s birthday to Gandhi Jayanti, the BJP, alongside central and state governments, will organize a variety of welfare and awareness programs,” he explained.

The Seva Pakhwada will encompass activities that spotlight the government’s flagship initiatives, environmental efforts, and outreach to marginalized communities, aligned with the Prime Minister's vision that politics should prioritize serving the people, especially the underprivileged.

Earlier this week, the BJP also revealed the 'Namo Yuva Run' at 75 locations to celebrate PM Modi’s 75th birthday, engaging one million youth in an anti-drug campaign as part of a nationwide fitness and social awareness initiative. The 'Namo Yuva Run' is set to take place on September 21, with over one million young participants expected to run simultaneously across these 75 locations in India.

Point of View

I believe that the BJP's Seva Pakhwada represents a crucial opportunity for the party to connect with citizens at the grassroots level. By focusing on service and welfare, they can reinforce their commitment to the nation while promoting critical social and environmental initiatives.
