Bengaluru, June 2 (NationPress) The BJP's Karnataka unit has issued a stern warning to the state government, demanding the immediate revocation of FIRs and externment orders against several Hindu activists in Mangaluru district or risk severe repercussions. BJP state President, B.Y. Vijayendra stated on Monday, "By favoring one specific community, the police and the government are undermining social harmony in the coastal area, instilling fear in both Mangaluru and Udupi districts."
"We caution the government: Repeal the FIRs against over 15 notable Hindu leaders, including senior activist Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, and annul the externment orders forthwith," Vijayendra asserted.
"Failure to do so will result in the government being solely accountable for any fallout," he warned.
"The Congress party, infamous for enforcing the Emergency, is once again trying to remind the populace of its oppressive methods in the coastal region by intimidating Hindu leaders and BJP supporters," he alleged.
"Since their ascent to power, the Karnataka government has consistently favored those involved in nefarious activities to appease the Muslim community and secure their electoral support," he claimed.
The government has opted to withdraw cases against individuals who attacked police stations, a decision recently criticized by the High Court, he pointed out.
In a recent incident concerning the murder of a Muslim truck driver in Mangaluru, members of the Muslim community pressured the government, resulting in the swift transfer of the Mangaluru Police Commissioner and the District Superintendent within just 24 hours, Vijayendra noted.
Today, FIRs have been filed against over 15 activists, including senior leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. The police are conducting raids on the residences of BJP and Hindu activists, fostering an atmosphere of fear—this behavior is utterly reprehensible, Vijayendra condemned.
In response to a series of retaliatory murders, multiple stabbings, and mob lynching incidents affecting both communities, the state government has pledged to launch a special initiative aimed at alleviating communal tensions in the region.
Minority leaders from the Congress party in Mangaluru district have submitted mass resignations, claiming that the state government has failed to provide them adequate protection.
