Agartala, Dec 14 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, expressed on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) holds steadfast confidence in its ‘Pristha Pramukhs’ and grassroots members. He emphasized that establishing trust in leadership at every tier is essential for reinforcing the party's foundation.
The term ‘Pristha Pramukh’ designates a BJP party worker overseeing a specific page of the electoral roll within a designated area.
While addressing the ‘Pristha Pramukh’ conference for the Mohanpur Mandal (assembly constituency) in the West Tripura district, Saha highlighted that the BJP's organizational prowess stems from its connection with the general populace and its cadre-centric framework.
"Our party distinguishes itself from others. We transcend mere ideological declarations. We are regular individuals who place our faith in the community. I remain grounded in my origins," Saha remarked, contrasting the BJP's operational methods with those of the Left parties.
He acknowledged local MLA and Power and Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath as the principal figure behind the event's organization and reflected on his own journey within the BJP after his initial membership.
"Upon joining the BJP, I began as a pracharak, later taking on roles as Pristha Pramukh and during the membership campaign. I once claimed I could register three lakh new members, but the party ultimately welcomed nearly seven lakh members throughout the state," the Chief Minister noted.
He asserted that the Communists do not genuinely uphold democratic principles despite their claims, recalling episodes of violence during the CPI (M) governance. Reflecting on the Kalyanpur incident (in Khowai district), CM Saha mentioned being profoundly affected during a recent visit to the site, where militants brutally murdered 26 innocent individuals, including children and the elderly.
"The populace still harbors deep resentment towards that savage act. Under the CPI (M) administration, killings surged, especially in election periods, instilling a climate of fear," he alleged.
Stressing the importance of fostering trust in leadership across all levels, including Pristha Pramukhs, mandal, and district presidents, Saha asserted that such confidence would further fortify the BJP.
The Chief Minister also expressed trust in the party's national leadership, mentioning BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as pivotal guiding figures for the party.
The conference was graced by the presence of BJP state President Rajib Bhattacharjee, former Chief Minister and current Lok Sabha Member Biplab Kumar Deb, Minister Ratan Lal Nath, and BJP state General Secretaries Amit Rakshit and Bhagaban Das, among other leaders.
