Guwahati/Agartala, Dec 15 (NationPress) The Ministry of Railways has granted approval for the execution of a final location survey for a new railway line in Tripura. This initiative aims to connect the Bodhjungnagar Industrial Complex, thereby enhancing trade and industrial progress within the state, as confirmed by officials on Monday.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that the Ministry has given the green light for the survey, which will span a distance of 14 km between the Jirania rail yard and the Bodhjungnagar Industrial Complex, with an estimated budget of Rs 42 lakh.
This new railway section is located in the West Tripura district. The endorsement represents a significant milestone in fortifying railway infrastructure and promoting industrial activity in Tripura, according to the CPRO.
Bodhjungnagar serves as a crucial industrial and commercial hub in the West Tripura district, the principal area among the state’s eight districts. Sharma noted that this region has been developed to accommodate resource-based industries, particularly those linked to rubber, bamboo, and food processing.
The proposed Jirania-Bodhjungnagar railway line will establish a crucial rail route for the transport of industrial goods, significantly benefiting the residents of Tripura, especially local traders. According to the NFR representative, the approved survey will facilitate further industrial development in nearby districts, thereby stimulating the local economy.
The project is anticipated to enhance railway connectivity, streamline train operations, bolster local supply chains, and foster economic growth in the region, he added.
The CPRO mentioned that the final location survey will involve a thorough analysis of geographical features, proposed bridges, soil conditions, and other engineering considerations.
A comprehensive report based on these findings will be prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Railways for subsequent review and endorsement, he stated. This survey is a crucial preparatory step for the impending railway line project.
In parallel, the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) has established the Bodhjungnagar Industrial Complex on a 535.73-acre site in West Tripura District.
The infrastructure at the Bodhjungnagar Industrial Complex comprises a growth center, Rubber Park, Bamboo Park, Food Park, and Export Promotion Industrial Park, alongside numerous private industrial units.
