Dilip Saikia Critiques Congress Policies Impacting Assamese Communities
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, April 6 (NationPress) Campaigning intensified in Assam's Golakganj Assembly constituency on Monday as the state's BJP president and MP, Dilip Saikia, held a public rally endorsing party candidate Ashwani Roy Sarkar.
Earlier that day, Saikia arrived at Golakganj Stadium and spearheaded a vibrant motorcycle rally with party workers to the meeting venue at the Laximari High School playground.
The roadshow and subsequent public gathering attracted a large audience, with BJP leaders heralding it as a robust demonstration of support just ahead of the Assembly elections.
While addressing the crowd, Saikia launched a fierce critique against Congress, accusing the party of implementing policies that harm the interests of Assam's indigenous populations.
He characterized the forthcoming election as a pivotal battle between the BJP's development-centric governance and opposing forces that he claims are detrimental to Assam.
Saikia also targeted Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, referencing recent legal issues surrounding him. He asserted that those spreading false narratives against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would be held accountable under the law.
In his critique of the opposition, Saikia claimed that Congress is grappling with internal strife and lacks a coherent governance strategy.
This starkly contrasts with the BJP’s achievements in Assam, where he highlighted infrastructure improvements, welfare programs, and initiatives aimed at preserving the rights of indigenous communities.
Saikia implored voters to support BJP candidate Ashwani Roy Sarkar, emphasizing that political stability under the BJP is crucial for maintaining the state's development trajectory.
The rally wrapped up with party members expressing optimism about securing a decisive victory in Golakganj as campaigning heats up across various constituencies in anticipation of the polls.
Previously, during a press conference in Delhi, Khera accused Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, of holding passports from three different countries: the UAE, Antigua, and Egypt. He also claimed that undisclosed overseas assets, including properties in Dubai, were linked to her.
Additionally, he alleged that a company registered in Wyoming, USA, is associated with Sarma and involves financial dealings amounting to thousands of crores of rupees.
Khera referred to this situation as an alleged asset concealment case and demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry by the Union Home Ministry.
